Abstracts: The Narmada Main canal traverses from surplus river basin areas of the South Gujarat region towards the water deficit river basin areas of the North Gujarat region. Hence Narmada main canal will be backbone for diverting the allocated share of water of Gujarat State towards the North Gujarat region by gravity. However, the over exploited and dark regions of North Gujarat are at a higher elevation than the Narmada Main Canal. Even though surplus water is available in the Narmada Main canal, the surplus water can be diverted only by lifting water from the Narmada Main canal towards the existing canal network of Dharoi, Hathmati, Guhai, Watrak, Mazam, Meshwo, Dantiwada, Sipu and Mukteshwar irrigation schemes.
