Abstracts: SMEs are the lifeline of growing economy like India. Generally these SMEs are not implementing quality initiatives like TQM, TPM, JIT etc because of many limitations. But now it becomes mandatory to execute this philosophy to achieve and maintain the success in era of global competition. Quality and maintenance of manufacturing systems are closely related functions of any organization. Over a period of time two concepts Total Quality Management (TQM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) have emerged as most promising strategies for achieving world class manufacturing system. Hydro Pneumatic Techniks, Udhna is one of the leading SMEs found suitable for final year project during “Shodh Yatra”. This enterprise is engaged in a manufacturing of various hydraulic components like hydraulic power pack, hydraulic lift, hydraulic cylinder and hydraulic press. This is one of the SMEs which was selected for LMCS* by MSME#, Govt. of India for 1 year duration. This final year project is carried out to identify the critical parameters which are necessary for success of quality initiative and execute them to establish and ensure the quality culture in SMEs.
