Answer - Trucking is one of the important links that facilitates productivity and competitive efficiency, leading to rapid economic development of the country as well as it shows companies distribution channel.
Trucking industry is actually most important that connect the all states as well as country with respect to the law and with legal formalities.
Trucking in India has received scant attention. The inadequacy of transport infrastructure and lack of funding from government have been the crux of problems confronting the road freight sector.
Looking at the transport industry, the way it has been ignored makes the industry highly unorganized, though the same is the back bone for any industry.
As till date road connectivity is very poor as compare to the developed countries. With road network of over 4.68 million kms which is the second largest road network in the world
The Indian trucking industry is currently valued at $130 Bn and there are approximately 5.6 Mn on road vehicles transporting 80% of the country’s freight. But is still cudgeling brains over petty issues like lack of drivers, information about new areas, return loads and on-time deliveries & availability of transporters. This is the present state of Indian trucking industry – highly unorganized and highly fragmented.
• As per ICRA report, the Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) Truck segment posted a positive growth of 19.0% in 10m FY 2015.
• The HCV (16T+) segment accounted for almost half of total M&HCV (Truck) sales and witnessed strong demand (up 42.6% in 10m FY 2015).
• The LCV Truck segment experienced sluggish trends (down 13.8% YoY) due to constrained financing environment.
TruckMandi.in, Moovo, TheKarrier, ThePorter, Blowhorn, etc. are few of the existing prominent players in this space. While TruckMandi is incubated at TLabs, TheKarrier recently secured approx. USD 230K (INR 1.5 crore) from Sol Primero, Outbox Ventures and others. Trucksfirst, on the other hand, raised $ 9.3 Mn (INR 61 crore) from SAIF Partners in April this year while ReturnTrucks got INR 2.5 Lakh funding from EDI Ahmedabad in May.
Gujarat
With a contribution of 18447 Kms from state highways, the total length of roads in Gujarat comes to a whopping 104564 Kms Interesting to note here is that if we compare the percentage of roads as state highways,
The uniqueness of Gujarat lies in the fact that it has always led the way in bringing novelty in governance. The credit of improvement in the infrastructure of the state goes to a number of schemes launched by the government of Gujarat.
The primary modes for movement of goods in most of the countries (and in India) are Rail and Road. Of late, movement of goods by roads has gained considerable importance in India. The road transport industry is penetrating into the market through a strategy of services. They provide service form the platform of the consignor to the door of the consignee.
