In an indication of increasing appetite for electricity in India, the country's per capita electricity consumption has reached 1010 kilowatt hours (kWh) in 2014-15, compared to 957 kWh in 2013-14 and 914.41 kWh in 2012 -13, according to the Central Authority of Electricity (CEA), the planning body of the energy sector of the apex of India.
"Per capita electricity consumption reached 1010 kWh some time ago," said a senior government official, seeking anonymity. But experts are far from enthusiastic about the growing consumption figure. "Per capita electricity consumption that crosses 1,000 units a year is certainly a milestone, but without much significance. A quarter of households in the country still do not have access to electricity, with some states in the east and northeast Less than even 30 percent of households with (electricity) access. The most significant milestone the nation must achieve is that 100 percent households have 24x7 quality electricity, "said Debasish Mishra, senior consulting director at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Limited Pvt. Per capita energy consumption in India is one of the lowest in the world. About 280 million people in the country do not have access to electricity. In comparison, China has a per capita consumption of 4,000kWh, with developed nations averaging around 15,000kWh per capita. Interestingly, while the country's maximum shortage was 2.3% in May, many believe demand still seems artificially suppressed, as state power boards (SEBs) are not buying power. SEBs have not been willing to buy electricity due to their weak finances due to low tariffs, slow progress in reducing losses, higher energy purchase costs and devaluation of debt. India has an installed power generation capacity of 272,503MW. A spokesman for the ministry of power did not immediately respond to questions sent by email on Sunday. Meanwhile, Minister for Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal has argued that states have not been buying power. "Some state governments have not cooperated as much as they should ... we urge them to increase it. Otherwise they would receive an appropriate response from the electorate in the coming days," Goyal told a news conference on May 25. Electricity generation was the gold coating in the May index of industrial production data. Electricity production, which shrank 0.5% in April, rebounded to grow 6% in May. India needs as much as $ 200 billion to meet its goal of installing 100,000MW of solar power capacity and around 60,000MW of wind power capacity in 2022. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had made energy security a part of its electoral campaign for the general elections from April to May 2014. After taking office in May, the government led by the BJP launched a plan to ensure About eight hours of quality energy supply to agricultural consumers and 24 hours of electricity to households. Total net electricity generation in the EU-28 was 3.03 million gigawatt-hours (GWh) in 2014, down 2.4% from the previous year. This was the fourth consecutive drop in production, following reductions of 2.2%, 0.1% and 0.6% in 2011, 2012 and 2013. As such, the level of net electricity generation in 2014 was 5.7% below its 2008 peak (3.22 million GWh). Germany had the highest level of net electricity generation in 2014 among EU Member States (see table 1), accounting for 19.5% of the EU-28 total, just ahead of France (17.8%), ; The United Kingdom was the only other Member State with a double-digit share (10.6%). The pattern observed for EU-28 of the decrease in electricity generation during the period 2010-14 was replicated in most EU Member States, while net electricity production increased in Romania, Sweden, Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Malta. On the contrary, there were relatively large contractions in electricity generation in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Finland during the period 2010-14. In 2014, the largest annual increases in electricity generation were recorded in Romania (12.1%), Slovenia (9.1%) and Bulgaria (8.6%), while none of the other EU Member States Registered growth of more than 3.0%. In contrast, 18 Member States recorded a decline in electricity generation, with the largest reductions in Latvia (-18.4%), Belgium (-12.8%) and Greece (-11.1%). More than a quarter (27.4%) of the net electricity generated in the EU-28 in 2014 came from nuclear power stations, while almost double that (47.6%) came from power plants using oil fuels) . Among the renewable energy sources shown in Figure 1, most of the net electricity generation in 2014 came from hydroelectric plants (13.2%), followed by wind turbines (8.3%) and Solar energy (3.2%). The relative importance of renewable energy sources in relation to net generation of electricity in the EU-28 grew between 2004 and 2014 from 13.5% to 24.9%, while the importance of fuels decreased from 55, 9% to 47.6% Of the electricity generated by nuclear power plants from 30.6% to 27.4%. Among renewable energy sources, the proportion of net electricity generated by solar and wind energy increased considerably: from 0.02% in 2004 to 3.2% in 2014 for solar energy and from 1.9% in 2004 to 8% 3% in 2014 for wind turbines.

The consumption of electrical energy is the form of energy consumption that uses electrical energy. The consumption of electrical energy is the actual demand for energy made in the existing electricity supply. It also provides information on household electricity consumption and concludes with statistics on the level of market liberalization (measured by the largest generator share) within the electricity markets.
The demand for electricity is measured in kilowatts (kW) and represents the speed at which electricity is consumed. The consumption of electricity, on the other hand, is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh) and represents the amount of electricity that has been consumed during a certain period of time. For example, a 10 W LED will always require 10 W of the network when it is on. However the power consumption of the LED will vary depending on the number of hours it is turned on. If the LED is on for 10 hours, its consumption will be 10 W x 10 hours or 100 Wh. Understanding the use of electricity can be compared to driving a car. The speed at which you consume electricity (demand or kW) is equivalent to the speed with which you drive the car (mph). Its total consumption (kWh) is similar to the total distance driven in the car (miles). The electricity consumption depends on how many hours your equipment was: multiply the demand by the time of use and obtain the consumption. In a car, calculate the total distance in the same way: multiply the average speed by the number of hours driven. |
