Introduction
Different types of damage detection.
Inspected at least every two years.
Damage occurs due to natural corrosion and the long-term action of passing vehicle loads.
Damages In Bridge
1.Cracks in bridge
Damage to concrete structures is mainly revealed by cracks of various types.
Dangerous to bridge durability and safety.
2.Bearing damages
a. The function of bridge bearing is to transmit the dead load of the superstructure and live load to the substructure .
b. Bearings that fail to perform as designed have to be replaced so as not to damage the bridge.
Case Study
University of Applied Sciences Bremen developed the so-called BELFA-DB.
Consists of a standard railway wagon loaded with steel plates which were connected to the wagon superstructure by pre-stressing.
All load tests at railroad masonry arch bridge led to a safe system identification allowing the assessment of the safety for the bridge.
Procedure
Conclusion
Simple measurement setup and the sophisticated data analysis methods
Need to develop and implement a regular program for underwater inspection of bridges.
From above the damages of structures are detected, the proper solution on these damages are necessary.
Identification of the cause and level of distress/damage is a very important step for successful repair and to achieve the designed service life of the bridge.
