Introduction
Background:
In November, 1986, the government had approved the implementation of the 2400 MW Tehri Hydro Power Complex, as a joint venture of the Government of India and the state of Uttar Pradesh.
THDC India Ltd. was set up as a joint venture corporation of Govt. Of India and Govt. Of U.P in July, 1988, and the works transferred to the corporation in Feb. 1989. The financial participation of Govt. of India (GOI) & Govt. of U.P (GOUP) in the implementation of the above complex was agreed to as 75:25 for power component, while the irrigation component was to be funded entirely by the GOUP.
Objective:
Commissioning of the 2400 MW Tehri Hydro Power Complex comprising Tehri Dam & HPP (1000 MW), Koteshwar Hydro Electric Project (400 MW) and Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP) (1000 MW) for benefits during the 10th and 11th plans. Implementations of Vishnu gad Pipalkoti Project (444 MW) for benefits in 11th plan.
