1. ABSTRACT:
In this world of increasing electronic equipments and so called “smart” world there is a significant need of managing the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipments (WEEE) .There are many electronic devices that are considered as waste but that can be recycled and re used .Thus, we propose a new system where any customer can sell , repair and smart sell their “E-waste”. This follows a business to customer model where customers are allowed to perform transaction directly with the WEEE agencies.
Due to a lot of time consumption in the business to business system of E-waste management and limited feature, we propose an advanced E-waste management system where a customer can sell ,repair and smart sell their E-waste. There is also an online auctioning process to smart sell their recycled E waste.
2. INTRODUCTION
Electronic waste: It describes discarded electrical or electronic devices. There is a lack of consensus as to whether the term should apply to resale, reuse, and refurbishing industries, or only to a product that cannot be used for its intended purpose. Informal processing of electronic waste in developing countries may cause serious health and pollution problems, though these countries are also most likely to reuse and repair electronics.
usage E-waste is dangerous to deposit into Solid Waste landfills because of the heavy metals contained in them. All the circuitry uses trace amounts of these materials that may not be hazardous on an individual basis, but we are landfilling tons and tons of these materials together. Like other Hazardous materials going into these landfills, the cumulative effect will be dangerous.
limitation of existing system
There are several tones of E– waste produced every year across the world and which increase in numbers exponentially. There are many WEEE agencies which are set up to manage the WEEE but that are less known to consumers. In the existing system customers are only allowed to sell their E-waste and which is not efficiently managed. There is no business to customer model followed but business to business model is approached where a lot of time is consumed.
3. LITERATURE SURVEY
The total e – waste in India has been estimated to 1, 46,180 tonnes per year. Mumbai at present tops the list with 11,017 tonnes. Survey suggests the amount of WEEE in different places with Delhi 9,730 tonnes, Bangalore 4,648 tonnes, Chennai 4,132 tonnes and Kolkata 4,025 tonnes and so on.

Currently based in Mumbai, India, she is the local project coordinator for the seco-sponsored e-waste initiative, and has been associated with the project for more than two years. She continues to work in the area of e-waste management while also researching for her PhD.

In recent days, some new e-waste recycling units, licensed and approved by the pollution control board, have come up in the city. But this hasn't ensured that e-waste gets in the right hands. According to S John Robert, CEO of Earth Sense, which is a recycling unit located in Manesar, the highest proportion of e-waste generated here still goes to the 'informal sector,' comprising scrap dealers and illegal sellers.
"The volume of e-waste that the authorized sector gets has gone down even from last year. The informal sector still gets the most amount of e-waste, where it is illegally sold," Robert said.
Literature review indicates that most of the work reported on WEEE management is that the consumers are unaware of the hazards of WEEE and the WEEE agencies which can create an enormous amount of monetary benefits. Thus there is a large demand for creating an online forum that bridges the gap between the consumers and WEEE agencies.
4. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The primary aim of the project work is to maximize the consumer recognition of the need for recycling of WEEE (Waste electronic and electric equipment). Rapid economic growth, coupled with urbanization and growing demand for consumer goods, has increased both the consumption of EEE and the production of WEEE, which can be a source of hazardous wastes that pose a risk to the environment and to sustainable economic growth. WEEE recycling is in its fancy. The major challenge involved here is to create awareness among the consumers of the environmental hazards that are originated from the WEEE. There are many WEEE recycling agencies who use different techniques to recycle the product and enable the consumer to re- use the old product which avoids disposal of old equipment in order to minimize land filling. Our project is to create a B2C platform where the consumers directly contact these WEEE agencies to sell / repair / smart sell their old electric/electronic equipment. It is planned to make use of an online platform to connect these WEEE agencies, consumers (sellers) and buyers. The objectives of our research are:
1. To design an effective B2C order processing module which is required to maximize the consumer recognition of the need for recycling of WEEE and help saving environment from hazardous waste.
2. To focus on designing a novel framework for online auctioning for the recycled products when the consumer want to smart sell his WEEE.
3. To concentrate on developing an application where time consumption is reduced and transactions complete as soon as possible.
4. To make our application more flexible payment module by allowing customer to have 3 different modes of performing transaction with WEEE agencies.
5. PROJECT METHODLOGY :
Switzerland is one of the very few countries with over a decade of experience in managing e – waste. India, on the other hand, is now experiencing the problems that E–waste possess. E- Waste recycling is gaining currency around the world as larger quantities of electronics are coming into the waste stream. The complex step is to manage the increasing volumes of E – waste effectively and efficiently in cost. Our project creates an online forum for the consumers (buyers/sellers) and agencies that accept the consumer orders to manage the WEEE. Once the WEEE agency receives the order from the consumer, they query the consumer about the mode of E– waste management that they are going to choose. Successively the WEEE is shredded/ upgraded and recycled for the consumers. When the customer requests for the smart sell mode the recycled WEEE is allowed for an online auctioning process by the WEEE agency , where the buyer who insists to buy for a higher price is sold with the recycled product and consumer gains the maximum monetary benefits for the upgraded WEEE product.
The results of our project both help in creating an efficient WEEE management, save environment and create an effective B2C business to involve many consumers and WEEE agencies around the world.
