ORGANISATION OVERVIEW
The basic concept of airline reservation system is to enable a customer to search for airline flights, choose a flight based on the details, reserve a flight or cancel the reservation. This system also helps the ticketing and administration departments to view list of passengers, booked tickets and also the cancellation details if any customer has booked the tickets online or if the customer comes-in-person for the same.
Functioning of an Airline Reservation System:
Airline Reservation System allows an airline passenger to search for flights that are available between the two cities, i.e. ''Departure city'' and ''Arrival city''. After the appropriate selection of the city details, the system then displays the schedule of flights pertaining to that city.
After searching for flights for particular day and date, the system displays list of available flights and allows customer to choose a particular flight. Once flight has been selected, the system checks for the availability of seats. If the seats are available then the system allows the passenger to book the seats, otherwise, the system prompts the passenger to look for another flight schedule.
For booking a flight, the system asks the customer to enter his details. The payment can be made through credit/debit cards. It also checks the validity of credit/debit cards for making payment and simultaneously updates the airline database and user database. The system also allows a customer to cancel the reservation, in case of any problem.
Benefits to an organization:
• Flight Schedule :
Booking flights online, helps in knowing the exact schedule of flights, which may be difficult otherwise, through phone.
• Fare comparison:
Various airways price can be viewed at a glance through online booking. One can compare the prices offered by various airways for a particular flight.
• Convenience:
Making airline reservations online helps in booking the flight from anywhere with an Internet connection.
• Changes in Schedule:
Making your reservations online helps in making alterations to the already booked flight schedule without getting in touch with a ticketing agent.
• Online boarding and early check-in:
Through this online system of airline reservation, a passenger gets an opportunity to check-in up to 24 hours before the flight. Moreover, a customer gets an ease of selecting the seat and printing the boarding passes from home. This helps in skipping long queues at the airport.
• Cost benefits:
Booking flight online saves money, like the commission of the travel agent and services fees charged by airlines for telephone booking.
The owner of computerized reservation system (CRS) can generate incremental profits by making these capabilities available to travel agencies in many ways-
• Computerized reservation system (CRS) rental/ or usage fees charged to travel agencies.
• Revenue from booking made due to “halo effect”: travel agent giving preference to the flights of the airline owner of the CRS.
PROFILE OF THE PROBLEM
Airline reservation system aims towards transactions related to making ticket reservations, which includes reserving, canceling and rescheduling tickets. It includes the online booking via credit or debit card. It’s too difficult to get information of flights by manual basis, so there must be a platform from which user can get information. Managing details of such large number of flights and their detail along with customer information is very difficult. Also managing payment details needs to be computerized for the better maintenance and performance. Thus there is a need for the system which can resolve all the above mentioned problems for the organization and hence improve efficiency and performance. It also reduces cost and man efforts.
The definition of our problem lies in manual system and a fully automated system.
Manual system : The system is very time consuming and lazy. This system is more prone to errors and sometimes the approach to various problems is unstructured.
Technical system : With the advent of latest technology if we do not update our system then our business result in losses gradually with time. The technical systems contains the tools of latest trend i.e. computers printers, fax, Internet etc. The systems with this technology are very fast, accurate, user-friendly and reliable.
TECHNICAL SYSTEM

2) Accuracy
3) Reliability
4) Informative
5) Reservations and cancellations from any where to any place
STUDY OF EXISTING SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
In past days the whole workings is done in manual ways, so it takes a lot of time to complete the process and there was lack of information provided to the customer or user. There is not a proper bridge between the customers of the organization as well as between administrators. That’s why each and every notice or information needs lot of time along with lot of expense to be transferred. In the existing system user can’t get the required information as soon as possible.
But now a days, online booking change the whole scenario. Now customer has sufficient information for what he/she wants and it’s easy to operate the whole thing
