PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY
Soil : Well-drained light as well as heavy soils except pure sandy soils. Fertile loamy soil is best
Climate : Tropical conditions, annual rainfall of 630-800 mm. It can tolerate freezing temperature as well as temperature up to 46° C.
Propagation : Vegetative propagation – Shield or modified ring and patch budding as well as soft wood grafting.
Irrigation : Young plants - 15 days interval Mature plants- 25-30lt water/ tree/day-Drip
Mulching : Paddy or wheat straw –15-20 cm height – during summer
Training and : * Encourage 4-5 well shaped branches pruning with wide angles at about 0.75 m height from ground level.
* Remove dead, diseased, weak, cris cross branches
Intercropping : Green gram, black gram, cowpea and horse gram up to 8 years.
