Abstracts: As we all know that belt conveyors are used for transferring material from one place to another. In conventional open belt conveyor systems the belt is troughed and the bulk loose material is kept on it openly and transferred. In this there are certain limitations like loss of material, pollution of environment and lower steep angle. And also there is requirement of transfer point to change the direction of material. For overcoming this limitations we are modifying this belt conveyor configuration to pipe conveyor system. Pipe conveyor is also known as tube conveyor. It is a device to handle and transport loose material along a distance. It is similar to belt conveyor but its arrangement of belt different from simple belt conveyor. This pipe conveyor also eliminates the need for transfer points to change direction in between its path. The pipe conveyor has the ability to form horizontal curves over much smaller radii than conventional trough belt conveyors, since the belt is constrained on all sides by the idler rolls. This eliminates all the environmental problems and expense of belt cleaners, pulleys, drives, chutes, dust collectors, power distribution and the cost of maintenance associated with transfer points In this project we have fabricated the conceptual model of pipe conveyor, and compare its parameter with conventional belt drive. The parameters such as belt speed, dimensions of configuration and power are described.
