ANNEALING OF BRASS

Abstract:
The hardness of a material varies depending on the composition of material, and how it is treated when processed. In this module, students observe the changes in hardness of brass resulting from different percentages of annealing, along with the accompanying changes in microstructure. The brass samples are subsequently annealed, and changes in hardness and microstructure demonstrated. These are shown using a Power Point presentation, intended as an introduction the effects of annealing on material properties.
CONCLUSION
We now know how to simulate a discrete-based PID controller with the continuous dynamic system behavior of a DC motor. We can apply this technique to any kind of hybrid system where continuous and discrete behavior is mixed. One of the benefits of the procedure shown is that the control algorithm we used is exactly the same as the one we would use in a Real-Time implementation, and we can take advantage of many of its features, such as integral anti windup
