Abstracts: To develop new and efficient way to control the excitation of alternator automatically. The word efficient means rectification using IGBT. We know that Alternator plays an important role in power system as it feeds power to the load, any fluctuation in load may cause ultimate fluctuation in terminal voltage of alternator and it may cause a break in synchronous tie. In order to maintain the voltage(output) at a constant value, its excitation(input) should vary with the fluctuations. A feedback system is provided that can sense this fluctuation and give a control signal which is fed back to the input and hence, constant voltage can be maintained effectively.
