Introduction:
An autonomous vehicle is fundamentally defined as a passenger vehicle that drives by itself. An autonomous vehicle is also referred to as an autopilot, driverless car, auto-drive car, or automated guided vehicle (AGV).
What is Autonomous Cars
Autonomous cars ,these are the cars which drive themselves with out driver.
These are also called as ‘ DRIVER LESS CAR ’.
Just we load our destination in a dashboard computer.
Control
The vehicle transmitting system continuously provides information about its position and velocity to its participants
Full Autonomous System
There must be seamless integration of both lateral and longitudinal control systems.
The earliest fully autonomous system is a low speed version.
Efficient for use in highly congested traffic.
Advantages
Better fuel economy.
Improved safety.
More efficient traffic flow.
Time savings.
Disadvantages
Expensive.
Required proper programming.
Drive only in pre defined path.
Conclusion
Currently, there are many different technologies available that can assist in creating autonomous vehicle systems. Items such as GPS, automated cruise control, and lane keeping assistance are available to consumers on some luxury vehicles. The combination of these technologies and other systems such as video based lane analysis, steering and brake actuation systems, and the programs necessary to control all of the components will become a fully autonomous system.
