ABSTRACT
Developed to automate the railway reservation system. It includes modules required to successfully operate railway reversion process smoothly.
The railway reservation system facilitates the passengers to enquire about the trains available on the basis of source and destination, booking and cancellation of tickets, enquire about the status of the booked ticket, etc. The aim of case study is to design and develop a database maintaining the records of different stations, trains, train status, route and passengers.
The record of station includes the name and id of the station. The record of train includes its number, name, source id, destination id, type, number of seats available in three classes of service and days on which it is available. The train starts from a city station identified by the station id and reach to a particular destination. Each train has a route which consists of a series of stations, their stop numbers, arrival time, departure time and distance from source.
The record of passenger includes the unique id of the ticket, name, age, sex, status of reservation (confirmed or waiting or cancel) and the class for which the ticket is reserved.
The record of train status includes dates for which tickets can be booked, total number of seats available, number of seats already booked and waiting slot.
Each train could have its route from one or more stations. Each passenger could reserve their tickets for one or more trains depending on the status of train. Moreover the passenger could search for trains from a particular source to destination.
