INTRODUCTION
Agriculture is a vital sector of Pakistan's economy and accounts for 21 percent of GDP, according to government estimates.
The sector directly supports three-quarters of the country's population, employs half the labor force , and contributes a large share of foreign exchange earnings.
The main agricultural products are cotton, wheat, rice, sugarcane, fruit and vegetables, in addition to milk, beef, mutton, and poultry.
Pakistan depends on one of the world's largest irrigation systems to support production.

3rd largest herd of livestock and is the 5th largest producer of milk.
Pakistan’s largest export commodity is rice, and it is ranked 11th in world rice production.

Pakistan is the largest producer of kinnows, the 5th largest producer of dates and the 6th largest producer of mangoes.

The highlight of the event was the one day conference on “Agricultural competitiveness and Value addition” which was inaugurated and addressed by the honorable Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
