ABSTRACT
“Windows Apps Compendium” is a collection of three Windows Phone 7.5 applications. They are:
1. The Scientific Calculator
2. Bulb Boy
3. Day and Date
All these apps have being created using the C# language and were built-up on Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 supported by .NET Framework.
1. The Scientific Calculator:
All Windows Phones have only normal calculator which does not have advanced calculating features like sin, cos, log, etc. So in order to facilitate these calculations to the Windows phone users, this app has been created. This app can be further extended to several engineering calculation techniques like Matrices, Determinants, Quadratic equations, etc. This app can be used widely in any situation where quick access to certain mathematical functions is needed, especially those such as trigonometric functions that were once traditionally looked up in tables; it can also be used in situations requiring back-of-the-envelope calculations of very large numbers, as in some aspects of astronomy, physics, and chemistry.
2. Bulb Boy:
This is a windows phone game that took its idea from ‘Lights Out’ which was created by Tiger Toys in 1995. The game consists of a 5 by 5 grid of lights. Whenever the game starts, a new random pattern of these lights are switched on. Pressing any of the lights will toggle it and the four adjacent lights. The goal of the puzzle is to switch all the lights off, preferably in as few button presses as possible. The advanced features added to the game are setting difficulty levels by limiting the number of moves, a reset button which starts a fresh game and Turn-On-All button which turns on all the lights.
3. Day and Date:
The problem lies within the confusion that arises when people try to count the number of days between two different dates(in different months, years). This app allows you to automatically calculate the number of days between any two given dates. It also specifies the particular date when initial date and period under consideration is specified.
