INTRODUCTION OF THE STUDY
Employment is nature’s best physician and essential for human happiness. Employees are not just resources. They are the very purpose of all the resources. Human resources are the most crucial and difficult on to tackle, but great importance. Without this resource, development of any organisation is not possible.
The industrial development in any country depends on a satisfied labour force. Various welfare is to be provided to the workers. The money spent for employees is not a waste but in fact a wise investment. Employee satisfaction bring company profitable return in the greater efficiency.
In this study an effort has been made to carry out a study on employee job satisfaction in Kap India Tiles, Thrissur.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The project study gives an analysis of the job satisfaction of employees at Kap India Tiles, Thrissur. Utmost care has been taken from the beginning of the preparation of the questionnaire till the analysis, findings and suggestions.
The main aim of the study is to know the job satisfaction of employees of Kap India Tiles, Thrissur. In order to accomplish the aim; Descriptive research Design has been followed. Structured questionnaire was used to collect data from the employees, is used for analysing the data that have been obtained through questionnaire.
The analysis leads to the conclusion that the job satisfaction of employees are good. Valuable suggestions and recommendations are also given to the company for better prospects. The respondents surveyed were the employees of the Kap India Tiles, Thrissur. Total employees surveyed were 100. The data collection instrument used is questionnaire. Census method is done for data collection.
THEORATICAL FRAME WORK
Job satisfaction has been defined as a pleasurable motional state resulting from the appraisal of one’s job an affective reaction to one’s job, and an attitude towards one’s job.
Job satisfaction is simply how people feel about their jobs and different aspects of their jobs. It is the extent to which people like (satisfaction) or dislike (dissatisfaction) their jobs. Job satisfaction is a attitudinal variable. It can be considered as a global feeling about the job or as a related constellation of attitudes about various aspects or fact on the job.
According to Feldman and Arnold “ Job satisfaction is the amount of overall positive effect or feelings that individuals have towards their job.”
In the words of Edwin B Flipo “ Job satisfaction is the contentment (or lack of it) arising out of interplay of employees positive and negative feelings towards his, when work.”
HISTORY
One of the biggest precludes to the study of job satisfaction was Hawthrone studies. These studies primarily created to Elton Mayo of Harvard Business School. Sought to find the effects of various conditions on workers productivity. These studies ultimately showed that novel changes in work condition temporarily increase productivity. It was later found that this increase resulted not from the knowledge of being observed. This finding provided strong evidence that people work for purpose other than pay, which paved the way for researchers to investigate other factors in job satisfaction.
MEASURING JOB SATISFACTION
There are many methods for measuring job satisfaction, by face the most common method is the “LIKERT SCALE”. Other less common methods for gauging job satisfaction include: yes/no questions, true/false questions, point system, check list, forced choice answers. This data is collected using enterprise feedback management system.
THE JOB DESCRIPTIVE INDEX
This is created by Smith, Kendalland Hulin (1969). It is a specific questionnaire of job satisfaction. It measures ones satisfaction in five facts. Pay promotion, opportunities, co-workers, supervisors and work itself. The scale is simple yes or no and can’t decide. In response to whether given statements accurately describes one’s job.
