What is RVLC ?
RVLC (reversible variable length code) are the codes which satisfy both prefix as well as suffix condition.
So they can be decoded in both direction i.e.. Forward as well as backward
Comparison of RVLC and VLC
VLC Code (i.e.. Huffman code) widely used for compression. Since these code satisfy only Prefix condition only so can be decoded only in one direction
On the other hand RVLC are bidirectional so whenever an error occur then we can decode them in reverse direction and retreive the information.
Need of RVLC
Huffman codes are widely used these days for video/Image compression but on passing them erroneous environment result in a error but since in huffman there is error correction capability it result in transmission of error.
Thus we introduce RVLC to reduce this difficulty
