INTRODUCTION
Interaction between the human neural system and machines.
Communication system that do not depend on peripheral nerves and muscles.
Brain accepts and controls a mechanical device as a natural part of its representation of the body.
THE HUMAN BRAIN
Cerebral cortex is the concerning part of brain for BMI.
It is divided into two hemispheres which are further divided into four lobes : frontal , parietal, occipital & temporal lobes.
It is responsible for higher order functions such as problem solving, language comprehension & processing of visual information.
GENERAL PRINCIPLE
Main principle behind this interface is the bioelectrical activity of nerves and muscles.
When the neuron activates, there is a voltage change across the cell,(~100mv) which can be read through a variety of devices.
CONCLUSION
BMI is advancing technology promising paradigm shift in areas like Machine Control, Human Enhancement, Virtual reality and etc. So, it is potentially high impact technology.
