INTRODUCTION TO HTML
The technique of browsing the internet is familiar to every one. The browser will help to access information from website. Website are created for different purpose commercial, educational and professional. In website we can include graphics, text, hyperlinks etc.
The ability to link one page to another is an important feature of the world wide web.HTML is the language with which we can publish the information as well as created link to other pages. Browsers like Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator are compatible for most of the websites. Linking of text document with multimedia is called the Hypertext.
HTML:
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language and it was created by Tim Berners-Lee’s and maintained by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
The objective of HTML in words of W3C is “A universally understood language, a kind of publishing mother tongue that all computers may potentially understand”. Markup language provides a set of directions or guidelines that tell the browser software how to manage a web document. These instructions are called tags or markups are embedded into the source document that creates the web pages.
HTML defines the format of the web document and enables hypertext links to be enabled in the document. Any text editor or word processor can be used to add html tags to an ASCII text document.
Tags surround materials such as text, images and links and tell the viewers web browser how to display them. Tags can reference graphic images and they instruct the browser to retrieve these images within the page. HTML 4.0 is the major upgrade to the HTML standards to meet the design and development needs of web designer’s worldwide.

World Wide Web (WWW):
It supports HTTP allowing user to publish contents to the Internet. Files can be placed in folders in our web site so that users can view with a web browser. We can install business application and publish in HTML.
File Transfer Protocol (FTP):
It’s an industry-standard protocol used for transferring files between computers on a TCP/IP network. FTP enables to use computer host multiple domain names.
Web-Based Applications:
In case of web applications the user needs a web browser in order to access and use an application over the networks. There is a need to update only the logic running on the server.
