Piezoelectric effect
When mechanical stresses are applied on certain crystals and ceramics, they develop some charge across their two faces.
This charge from the crystals due to the mechanical stresses is in the form electric current, hence called Piezo-electric current.
Power crisis
Everything today runs on electric power
There are more machines that run on electricity than there are people using them
Present power supplies are insufficient as Coal and Hydel power plants are almost over-running
The demand is increasing on and on; we are helpless
Nature is to be saved from resource confiscation and pollution.
PIEZO-PATTI
A small flexible strip of piezo-electric crystals arranged in a grid (matrix) form and all of them inter-connected.
The common output cables for the current are then used to charge up a charge storage device such as a capacitor or a battery.
Applications of PIEZO-PATTI
A PIEZO-PATTI may be applied at any location where regular, consistent and considerably large mechanical stresses are produced such as
Roadways
Railway tracks
Shoes and other footwear
Tyres of Vehicles
Keyboards of laptops
PIEZO-PATTI on the Roadways
At heavy traffic areas such as in cities and on highways, many PIEZO-PATTI strips of the orders of 4” x 36” will be matted on the road and the output ends will be connected to a grid that amplifies this energy.
Used to illuminate street lights and traffic signals and even to power hybrid cars.
In a Nutshell…
PIEZO-PATTI may be called as a device of the future which can help fight the ever-increasing energy demands
The need is of awareness and application of it as places where mechanicals energy is generated and wasted unnoticed.
