Mashobra
Mashobra is connected to the Shimla. It is an historic Road. It was built in 1850 by Lord
Dalhousie. This road is called Hindustan Tibet Road.
In May 1948, before returning to London at the end of his mission as viceroy and then
governor general of India, Lord Mountbatten and his wife Lady Edwina spent a few
weeks in this retreat. The then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru paid them a visit, which
is documented in the biographies of Lady Mountbatten.
Just 3km from Mashobra, Craignano is at an height of 2,279 metres (7,800 ft.). A
winding path leads through the forest of pines up a gentle incline to the breath taking
beautiful gardens filled with an abundance of flowers, amidst clumps of trees, in the
spacious lawns, are stone benches and lovely secluded picnic spots. The area adjoining
to Mashobra is famous for apples orchards.
Tattapani
Tattapani a popular sightseeing option near Shimla about 51 kms away. Tattapani is
also the site for river rafting near Shimla. Tattapani is very popular for the hot springs
which are located besides the icy cold water of Sutlaj.
Shimla's Tattapani has become a spot of big tourist attraction. The Hindu temples as
well as the Shiv Goofa (Shiva Caves) located at Saraur at a distance of four kilometers
from there are also places of utmost interest. Fishing can be an exciting activity in the
place.
People from all over the country visit the place to take a dip into the sulphurous water of
the spring. A dip into the water of the spring provides relief to the people suffering from
joint pains, fatigue or any type of skin disease and hence has got a great medicinal
quality.
Besides, Tattapani at Shimla has developed into a major Hindu pilgrimage center. The
pilgrims regard the month of January the holy time to take a bath in the water of
Tattapani. People also visit the place on 13th April on the occasion of agricultural
festival. The spring water vanishes in the months of June and July but again becomes
visible in the months of November and December.
Kufri
Kufri is a summer sports capital. Kufri is situated at an altitude of 8400 ft above sea
level. It takes approximately one hour to reach to Kufri to Shimla. The distance between
shimla to Kufri is approx 20 km. Between this one station Sanjoli is situated. Sanjoli is
the center point between shimal and Kufri. In Sanjoli you take a darshan of famous
Gurudwara. You must have take darshan in Mandir situated just before the kufri. Maggi
point is also popular place on the way to kufri. And one can also enjoy Yak riding in that
point. And there is also one point that is called photo point. In which you can take
photographs and also take refreshment from food stalls.
It is very famous hill station among the trekkers, because Kufri is the starting point of
treks to Manali, The cool and pleasant climate, along with stunning natural beauty,
makes Kufri a perfect summer getaway.
Chail
Chail is at a height of 2150 meters. The Maharaja's Palace, built in the 19th
Century, together with the Cottages of his staff are today a beautiful holiday
resort.
Rastriya Military School, It is home of Rastriya Military School Chail who is one
of the five Rastriya Military Schools of country . Where approx 300 cadets from
all parts of country are groomed to be the future leaders of country .
Chail sanctuary (3 km)- The sanctuary was notified on 21 March 1976 near the
town in district Shimla and covers an area of about 10,854.36 hct. The Chail
sanctuary has 'ghoral', 'kakkar', 'sambhar', 'red jungle fowl' and 'khalij' and 'cheer'
pheasants. Machan like sighting posts have been built at Khuruin.
Chail Cricket ground - Surrounded by thick forests of deodar, a well maintained
Chail Cricket ground is the highest cricket ground in the world. It was built in 1893.
This ground located at an altitude of 2,444 m. It is used as the school playground by
Chail Military School. During school vacations it is also used as polo ground. There
is a well maintained Basket Ball court and the same cricket ground is used for
playing football as the ground also has goal posts.In one corner of the ground there
is a historic tree on which the Military School has constructed a beautiful tree house.
Gurudwara is also one of the main attractions of this place, it was the first building to
be constructed by the Maharaja and after that the palace was built.

One can also trek approximately 10 km from Junga, (District Shimla) to Chail. Junga
is approximately 10 km from Sadhupul. Weekend Yatri organizes walks in and
around Chail.
