IDEA OF PROJECT
The main aim of this project is to get information about the condition of the baby, which is in ICU through blue tooth medium.
In earlier days, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for babies are designed, such way that Doctor has to go often near ICU to check the baby's condition.
But later a communication has made, which was through wire, to get the information about the baby and monitoring the baby in ICU, where in, it has following disadvantages
It is costly.
There are chances of loss of data.
To overcome these problems, we have designed our project which is more advantageous, where in, communication here is wireless.
INTRODUCTION:
This project is based on ATMEL 89S52 µcontroller.
For doing this project we use some of the software like
Kiel Micro Vision 3 software used to program .
Protel schematic software is used for designing the circuit diagram for this project.
Express PCB software is used for designing the PCB for this project.
Working Principle
In this project we are using Blue Tooth Transmitter & the Receiver.
The Transmitter at the Intensive Care Unit & the Receiver at the Destination i.e. the Doctor’s chamber.
Working Principle
The Blue Tooth Transmitter sends the entire details about the Baby’s condition.
Such as baby's temperature, pressure etc to the Destination point where the receiver, receives the Data & sends it to the microcontroller
Received information are displayed on the monitor, So that the Doctor’s can analyze the baby’s condition from the place where they are sitting.

Components Description
Power supply:
Power supply unit contains adaptor, regulator, and filter.
This will convert AC voltage into desired DC voltage.
Adaptor is used for step down the voltage, regulator is used for removing AC components and filter is used to provide pure DC.

RS 232 CONVERTER (MAX 232N):
This is the device, which is used to convert signals from TTL/RS232 vice versa.
RS-232 was created for one purpose, to interface between Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) and Data Communications Equipment (DCE) employing serial binary data interchange.
So as stated the DTE is the terminal or computer and the DCE is the modem or other communications device.
LCD (LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY)
This LCD is Two-line (16x2 characters) display.
Vital role of LCD in this project:
This device is used to display the permission status.
Vital role of LCD in ‘Blue tooth based Baby monitoring intensive care unit’ is used to display the corresponding action in written form.
Computer:
This is used to monitor the system status and controls the system devices. Here the front end application is developed by using VB software. The computer is communicating with microcontroller through serial port.
External EEPROM memory (4Kbytes)
These memory devices are used to store the data for off line process. The AT24C02A / 04A/ 08A/ 32/64 provides.
2048/4096/8192/32,768/65,536 bits of serial electrically erasable and programmable read only memory (EEPROM) organized as 56/512/1024/4096/8192 words of 8 bits each.
Vital role of External EEPROM memory in ‘Blue tooth based Baby monitoring intensive care unit’ is used to store the received data.
Buzzer:
The buzzer subsystem produces a 2 KHz audible tone when powered. The buzzer will sound when the signal coming into the driver is high. It must be connected to a transistor, Darlington or transducer driver subsystem.
Vital role of buzzer in ‘Blue tooth based Baby monitoring intensive care unit’ is used to indicate normal/abnormal/active/deactivate condition of system/peripherals.
APPLICATIONS OF THIS PROJECT:
In biomedical fields.
We use Blue Tooth for short distance data communication.
Advantages:
Cost effective, as communication is wireless.
Easy process.
No loss of data.
Disadvantages
Only short distance data communication.
Data transfer is slow.
