Jaypee Sports International Limited (JPSI)
Established in October 2007, Jaypee Sports International Ltd., a subsidiary of Jaiprakash Associates Ltd. (JAL), has constructed India’s premier motorsports destination – Buddh International Circuit (BIC) – which hosted India’s first ever F1 Grand Prix on October 30, 2011.
In addition to F1, the track is also expected to host other top-level international motorsports events.
Budhh International Circuit Structure
The 5,141m-long circuit, designed by the German architect Hermann Tilke, contains 16 corners and a 693m-long straight, on which a maximum speed of 320km/h should be possible.
Investor Jaypee Sports erected some 150,000 grandstand seats around the circuit.
Work began in Feb2011, with the asphalting of the binder layer. The installation of the actual race surface, a 4cm-deep top layer, is scheduled to follow before the monsoon season at the end of June. The first Formula 1 race in the history of the subcontinent was scheduled for October 30, 2011.
