Abstracts: ABSTRACT The objective of this study is to design a casing of an induction motor which works in normal as well as submerged condition. When an induction motor works under water for example in an submersible pump the water from the vicinity escapes into the motor body and it corrodes the windings and sometimes short circuits the motor. While in atmospheric condition when the motor runs for longer hours due to insufficient heat discharge overheating inside the casing takes place that might lead to burning out of the circuit. The solution for the problem is to be solved by calculating the dimensions of fins that are to be provided in the outside motor body for better heat transfer and we have to provide efficient sale and mechanical joints so that water doesn’t corrode the windings inside. The clients for Amit Electricals pvt ltd. demanded for a motor for insulation protection 68 which comes under classification of marine motor. Used for pumping out water from boat, ship, ferry or any ship or vessel and it has to work in harsh conditions such as ocean water and has to withstand corrosion. The casing of motor is designed with reference to “INDIAN STANDARD IMENSIONS OF FLANGE MOUNTED AC INDUCTION MOTOR.” According to customer’s requirement . Initially when designed with normal and tests like leakage tests were done there were faults found in the design of motor’s body its fabrication and many of things have to be added on the motor’s body for its normal working in submerged condition.
