What is facial recognition?
A facial recognition system is a computer application for automatically identifying or verifying a person from a digital image or a video frame from a video source.
Traditional:
Some facial recognition algorithms identify faces by extracting landmarks, or features, from an image of the subject's face.
Algorithms:
principal component analysis
linear dimensional anlysis
Eigen face technology
3d technique:
Newly emerging trend
Uses sensors to capture image
Not affected by light when compared to traditional method.
Working
Skin texture analysis:
Uses the visual details of the skin, as captured in standard digital or scanned images.
This technique, turns the unique lines, patterns, and spots apparent in a person’s skin into a mathematical space.
Notable uses and deployment:
London borough of newham
German federal police Australian custom service
United States of America
ATM
Not require aid of a person.
