Introduction
In today's modern world, Social Networking Sites (SNSs) have become an integral part in our daily life. It is increasingly magnetizing the attention of both industry and academic researchers intrigued by their affordance and reach. SNSs is not only networking with the people but beyond that. SNSs is a product of internet technology which is not limited to only technocrats but also for all the people (Danah M. Boyd and Nocole B. Ellison, n.d). In current scenarios, there exists numerous SNSs however only few of them are hit. So, the purpose of this study is to initially understand the features offered and ethics followed by each of SNSs separately. After studying, the comparative analysis of three most famous networking sites based on their goal is carried out in terms of its usage, applications, etc. Apart from this, the research even explores the issues that are faced by other SNSs from user point of view and corresponding recommendations are presented. A survey is carried out by sending questionnaire to SNSs users in order to get a real picture and not only the paper knowledge. This research is intended for all the people and can consider as a reference for making them educated about SNSs from every aspect and mainly how one can make use of SNSs to advertise their companies. Thus, this research mainly focuses on comparing and analyzing the different social networking sites.
Intellectual Challenges
While carrying out this research, the first and foremost challenge that I faced is while scheduling the project plan. The second challenge that I came across is while gathering the correct information to the current research as numerous secondary resources are existed in the real time environment and I was just confused to gather the data for the research however this problem was overcome by taking help from my supervisor. The third challenge that I faced is while preparing the questionnaire for conducting survey to the current research as it must be prepared such that each person can easily understand and can answer the questions.
Research Program
Project plan can be defined as the approved document which sets the phases, tasks and activities that are needed to deliver the project within the given time period. It guides the researchers and informs about the project execution and project control. Irrespective of the research criteria, the project plan plays a significant role in successfully completing the project within a given duration of time. So, for the current study before starting my research I just prepare a project schedule and allotted the time for each of the task based on its requirements.
Research on Related Topics
Depending on the aim and objectives of the research framed in the proposal, in this task the information is gathered based on the requirements of the project. Initially the resources that are reviewed for the current study will be related to the social networking sites and after getting idea on these sites, I will search secondary resources for different social networking sites that are mostly used by the people (like facebook, linkedin, twitter, myspace, etc.) and are listed in top 10 lists. After gathering the total information, all the resources are arranged in a proper way in order to check whether it fulfill the objectives of the project or not. This phase is referred as the backbone of complete research and it is started from 14th December 2012 to 6th January 2013. Finally, with this information a comparison is made on different social networking sites in terms of usage, applications, etc. In order to verify whether the collected data is accurate or not, I will meet my supervisor and will make changes accordingly.
Designing Questionnaire
This fourth phase is considered as the biggest task as the questionnaire should be made related to the research and must be in an easy way so that each of the participants can be easily understandable. Since the responses gathered from the participants will be considered as the evidence for the research. The questionnaire method was chosen for the current research to know how many people are viewing the social networking sites and are further classified in terms of age and the applications that are being used by these people. This task will be started from 6th January 2013to 21st January 2013. All these questions are prepared such that it should not be lead any issues in the society and further I will take some precautionary actions while preparing and asking questions to the participants. Thus, the main aim of this questionnaire is to gather the related and more information on the study from participants without leading to any sort of issues.
Conducting a Survey
Once the questionnaire is prepared, now the next task is to send that particular questionnaire to the people who use social networking sites. The questionnaire will be sent on 12th January 2013and gives time period of 3 weeks to answer those questions. This process of sending questionnaire and collecting information from participants is called as survey. This method can be successful only when the questionnaire prepared for this process is prepared accurate based on the research. Hence, the information is gathered from different people through survey by sending questionnaire to set of people.
