DSTATCOM-PPT.ppt (Size: 253 KB / Downloads: 28)
Objective
To Mitigation of Voltage Sag (Dip), Swell & Interruption in Distribution System by using Custom Power Device:
D-STATCOM
INTRODUCTION
Voltage Sag:
Voltage Dip is a short time event during which a reduction in r.m.s voltage magnitude occurs.
The Voltage Dip magnitude is ranged from 10% to 90% of nominal voltage and for duration greater than half a cycle and less than 1 minute.
Voltage Swell:
A Swell is defined as an increase in rms value of voltage or current ranging from 1.1 pu to 1.8 pu at the Power frequency durations from 0.5 to 1 minute.
Voltage Interruption
An interruption occurs when the supply voltage or load current decrease to less than 0.1 pu for a period of time not exceeding 1minit
Sources &Occurrence of Voltage Swell
A sudden Disconnection of large load
A sudden Connection of a Capacitor bank
Lightning striking the transmission line
Swing surges due to operation accessories in the power system.
Effects of Voltage Sag Swell and Interruption :
Slowdown or stopping of Induction motors.
Tripping of contactors or CBs.
Maloperation or tripping of adjustable speed drive.
Failure of inverters.
Incorrect operation of control and protective devices.
Crashing of computers & Communication systems.
Extinction of discharge lamps.
Continuous production lines where process cannot tolerate temporary shut down.
Lighting and safety systems of hospitals, airports, public buildings ect.
CONCLUSIONS
The functioning of D-STATCOM is studied by simulations.
Comprehensive Results are presented.
The Voltage Sag swell and Interruption has been mitigated by using Custom Power Devices D-STATCOM.
The scope for further work is to minimize the power injection of
D-DSTATCOM for compensation of the voltage sags.
It will be observed that sufficient amount of Battery voltage is required to mitigate completely the voltage Sag, swell and Interruption
