Introduction
The 4th National Conference of Women in Police will be hosted by Orissa Police
in collaboration with Bureau of Police Research & Development, Ministry of Home
Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi at Bhubaneswar from 15th-17th September, 2010. This
conference was first held in Delhi in the year 2002, jointly with the British Council. Since
then, it has been organized by the Bureau of Police Research & Development, Ministry
of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, jointly with a host State. The second conference was
held in 2005 at Mussoorie, Uttarkhand. The third conference was held at Panchkula,
Haryana in 2009.
The basic concept of the National Conference of Women in Police is to
focus on different aspects of problems faced by the women joining the police force and
also to provide a forum at the national level to deliberate upon issues of topical interest
to the women in police and hold interaction across all ranks. It is attended by women
police officers of all ranks from Constables to DGPs from all over India i.e. from all
States/UTs and Central Police Organizations.
