Aim of the course
After completing the course the students should be able to:
Formulate an up-to-date research question within the subject of stem
cell biology and to choose relevant methods to address the relevant
questions.
Write a project plan containing relevant background information as
well as a description of the research question and the chosen methods.
Carry out the practical methods relevant for performing the project
described in the research plan.
Make an overview of the relevant literature and be able to discuss t
students’ own results in relation to published data.�Write a report on the performed project according to guidelines ofresults in relation to relevant literature and thereby show knowledge
within the subject of stem cell biology.
Course content
The course includes an individual scientific project , lectures and seminars, a
written report of the results in the form of a scientific article as well as an
examination of the work.
The student will choose a research project among a number of available
projects. The research project will run for 20 weeks in the laboratory of the
project supervisor. In the first two weeks, a lecture series on stem cell biology
as well as lectures on scientific methodology, ethical issues, GLP etc will be
taken in parallel with the research project. During the course, the students and
tutors will meet regularly for research school seminars and group work.
Grade
The grades Godkänd/Pass (G) or Underkänd/Fail (U) will be used

Qual ifications required for acceptance to the course
Bachelors in science, medicine or engineering alternatively completion of
relevant course work corresponding to 180 ECT.
For foreign students fundamental competence in Swedish is not required
however non-Nordic students that has not English as their documented mother
tongue, are required to present an accepted result in an international English
proficiency test (TOEFL – at least 550/213; IELTS – at least 6.0; or
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency).
