Section 66 of Information Technology Act: 2000
Whoever commits hacking shall be punished with imprisonment up to three years, or with fine which may extend up to two lakh rupees, or with both.
Who are Hackers?
A school definition for the term hacker. Is someone who never goes to class, who in fact sleeps all day, and who spends the night pursuing recreational activities rather than studying.
There are at least two common interpretations:
Someone who bypasses the system’s access controls by taking advantage of security weaknesses left in the system by developers
Someone who is both knowledgeable and skilled at computer programming, and who is a member of the hacker subculture, one with it’s own philosophy and code of ethics

Ideological Hackers
hack as a mechanism to promote some political or ideological purpose
Usually coincide with political events
Criminal Hackers
Real criminals, are in it for whatever they can get no matter who it hurts
Disgruntled Employees
Most dangerous to an enterprise as they are “insiders”
Since many companies subcontract their network services a disgruntled vendor could be very dangerous to the host enterprise
End User Piracy
copying the same software onto more than one computer
copying office software onto a home computer
loaning your software to someone else so that the person can make a copy
making a copy and selling the software to someone else
selling old software (?)
BBS/Internet Piracy
distribution of copyrighted software via the Internet or a bulletin board system
sites which are set up to distribute software have made arrangements with the software owners to make their software available
Software Licenses
all software comes with a license which specifically states the terms and conditions under which the software may be legally used
faculty, staff and students at educational institutions and organizations are not exempt from copyright laws
PORNOGRAPHY
The Internet is being highly used by its abusers to reach and abuse children sexually, worldwide. The internet is very fast becoming a household commodity in India . It is explosion has made the children a viable victim to the cyber crime.
