The project team of DSP (15 students grade 11 and above) headed by Biology Professor Rainer Busch kindly requested BHC BJ to support their Jungle Project in context with the overall Climate Project of the school.
The Project started back in early 2007 and was triggered by the German Government asking German schools abroad to actively engage in climate change.
The team worked out basic facts about reasons for world wide climate change, developed a comprehensive questionnaire regarding aspects of climate change (how much do Chinese and German people know about climate change?), established a school “biotop” incl. a solar powered green house and worked out a plan regarding energy and materials / resource savings at DSP Beijing.
The students will work on (while living in the Ranger Station):
Re-introduction program for Primates (langures, gibbons) and
Cultivation of plant species of which 37 are on the so called “Red List” and cultivation of
some of the 550 plants and herbs used in traditional Chinese
/Asian Medicine.
The project will be published through Deutsche Presse Agentur DPA and a report in cooperation with Deutsche Welle (radio/TV).
The DSP Project Team would appreciate Bayer/BHC’s support to finance the project (to buy flight tickets and accommodation in the national park’s ranger station), sponsorship would help to cover part of the total cost.
