Cluster head Selection and Role Rotation Algorithm for Enhanced Performance in Wireless Sensor Networks
Aim of the Project
To design and develop an algorithm for selection of cluster head and rotation of their roles for enhanced network efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN)
Introduction
A wireless sensor network is a large collection of sensor nodes with limited power supply and constrained computational capability
In order to support data aggregation through efficient network organization, nodes can be partitioned into a number of small groups called clusters.
Each cluster has a coordinator, referred to as a cluster head, and a number of member nodes.
Project Objectives
To carry out literature review on cluster formation in wireless sensor networks, cluster head selection algorithms, role rotation algorithms, implementation of algorithms and protocols in ns2, acceptable node energy consumption and duty cycle in WSNs
To arrive at the requirements and design specifications for cluster head selection and role rotation algorithm in WSNs, based on the literature review
To design the cluster head selection and role rotation algorithm according to the designed specifications
Methods and Methodologies
Literature review on cluster formation in wireless sensor networks, cluster head selection algorithms, role rotation algorithms, implementation of algorithms and protocols in ns2, acceptable node energy consumption and duty cycle in WSNs has been carried out by referring reviewed journals, books, manuals and related documents
The design specifications for the required cluster head selection and role rotation algorithm has been arrived at based on the literature review
