Abstracts: Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is a technique that utilize the virtual content of an image to search for similar images in large scale image database, according to user’s interest. Digital image database is growing rapidly in size. In traditional approach, queries cannot be described at all, but tap into the visual features of images. There will be difficulties in locating images on the web. CBIR is an automatic retrieval process instead of traditional keyword based approach. The visual content of an image is analyzed in terms of low level features (i.e., color, shape, texture) extracted from the image. CBIR application is used in Medical Imagery Retrieval, Finger Print Retrieval, Satellite Imagery Retrieval, Internet, Photo Collections.
