Definition of OLAP:
Is a category of s/w technology that enables analyst managers, and executives to gain an insight into the data through fast, consistent, interactive access in a wide variety of possible views of information that has been transformed from raw data to reflect the real dimensionality of the enterprise as understood by the user.
The purpose of OLAP:
The main aim of OLAP tools to provide multidimensional analysis to the underlying data. For this, the OLAP tools employ multidimensional models for data storage and presentation.
