Genesis of the Project
A study was conducted at Modi Motors Group through structured questionnaire among the employees of the organization. The study was aimed at assessing the degree of Role Clarity / Role Ambiguity in the organization & how it has the effect on the Role efficacy of the employees. The information collected from 35 employees from various branches of Modi Motors Group. It was found that the Role Clarity/Role Ambiguity prevailing in the Modi Motors Group was only moderate.

Human Resource at MODI GROUP
In any organization three main objectives of Human resource department are Performance, Productivity & profitability. Employees are seen as resources. It’s the responsibility of HR to mould its employees in such a way that they improve their performance. Continuous improvement will ensure that the employees taking the production a step ahead. The ultimate goal of profitability is then inevitable. Now, the profitability will not be only in terms of money but it will look after the whole gamut. Profitability in terms of rich culture, Profitability in terms of employee turnover, decreasing the cost of attrition, and healthy work environment.
Being a service sector company Modi needs to take care of its employees as they become the face for their company. As soon as a customer enters the showroom or workshop it’s the employees who make them feel welcome and take care of their problems and queries. In such a situation it’s really very important to treat the employees in such a way that they are happy to do their work.
Each branch (i.e. 11) has one HR executive looking after all the work. Two HR Asst. Managers are there to manage their work, one for central line branches and the second for western line branches and one HR Group Head to look after overall policies of Modi Group.
Nature and scope of the project
Role:
Role is the position one occupies in a social system, and is defined by the functions one performs in response to the expectations of the significant members of a social system, and one’s own expectations from that position or office.
Role & office (or position) are separate concepts, though two sides of the same coin. According to Katz & Kahn “office is essentially a relational concept, defining each position in terms of its relationship with others and to the system as whole”. While office is a relational and power-related concept, role is an obligational concept.
A role is not defined without the role senders, including the role occupant. The position of a personnel manager may be created in an organization, but his role will be defined by the expectations (stated or unstated ) that different person have from the personnel manager, and the expectations that he, in turn, has from the role. In this sense the role gets defined in each system by the role senders, including the role occupant.
