INTRODUCTION
Petrol Engine is widely used as a source of mechanical power. Due to their less weight to power ratio, they are popularly used for two wheelers and light vehicles like cars. Their output varies from few horse powers to hundred of horse power. Both, two strokes and four stroke engines are used. Various measurements provided enable to determine B.H.P. fuel and intake and break thermal efficiency at various loads. The present Test Rig incorporates a Two Stroke Engine.
PARTS OF 2-STROKE PETROL ENGINE TEST RIG
Engine:-
The engine ignites fuel at every upward stroke, so there are two strokes for every ignition of fuel. They are called upward and downward stroke. As the piston moves in Upward direction from bottom to top in the first stroke the air and fuel mixture gets compressed and ignited by spark plug as upward stroke comes to end. This results in an explosion of mixture which forces the piston to move downwards thereby producing power.
Rope Break Dynamometer:-
Rope break is a simple device for measuring Break Power of an engine, it consists of number of turns of rope wound around the rotating drum attached to the output shaft. One side of the rope is connected to the spring balance and other to the loading device the power absorbed is due to friction between rope and the drum.
SCOPE FOR FUTURE WORK
This Test-Rig can be made computerized test rig.
So that all the parameters can be directly obtained.
Performance curves are easy to plot.
This Test-Rig can be used for research work by M.Tech. and Ph.D. scholars.
CONCLUSION
We want to build up this project for our college Energy Conversion/ I.C. Engines laboratory to study the performance of two stroke petrol engine.
This project will help us to understand the complete working of a 2-stroke cycle petrol engine along with its testing procedure.
We assure that the project will get completed in time and we will give full efforts to make it successful.
