INTRODUCTION
Method of improving the accuracy of your receiver by adding a local reference station
Improves the integrity of the whole GPS system
Uses a network of fixed, ground-based reference stations , to measure error in pseudo range
PRESENT SCENARIO OF GPS’s
Most of the GPS company give up to 17m (49 feet)
Modern GPS reliably give up to 10m
Even higher accuracies are possible
Probability of 50% - 60% is presented
THE TECHNIQUE
Some of the errors between the base station and rover data can be recognized, & corrected
Requires post processing of field data
STEPS:
Download the rover data
Download the base-station data
Use software to make the correction
Remove/reduce the errors, except multipath
DGPS OPPORTUNITIES IN INDIA
National Survey agencies in India (NRSC,NHO,Mil. Surveys)
Oil and energy (ONGC, OIL ETC.)
Power (NHPC Assam, Himachal, Kaveri basin etc.)
Marine and maritime boards (DGLL, Port trust etc.)
Remote sensing and forestry
Mining and infrastructure (RITES, NHAI, Metros etc,)
CONCLUSION
Application of DGPS has a wide range of opportunities, where high range of accuracy is the need
Further development of GPS using WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) will be a field of interest
