What is a Data Center
A specialized facility for housing a large number of servers, storage devices, networking equipment and communications links.
The facility serves as a centralized operations centre for processing, storage, and communications.
Equivalents to a data centre - mainframe computer rooms and telephone company central offices (COs).
It generally includes redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (e.g., air conditioning, fire suppression) and security devices.
Large data centers are industrial scale operations using as much electricity as a small town.
