Abstracts: Crane hook are highly liable components and are always subjected to failure due to accumulation of large amount of stresses which can eventually lead to its failure to study the stress pattern in its loaded condition. A solid model of crane hook is prepared as per standard dimension of 10 tonne hook with the help of creo parametric software having material mild steel and then it is exported to ANSYS software and load is applied. The location of maximum stress produced within the member is located and identified using FEM. Then we integrate Creo with microsoft Excel to modify Design. Further optimization in trapezoidal cross-section is done by varying ratio b1/b2,b1,b2,H & whole section and its effect are studied and the most optimum dimension for crane hook is selected on the basis of mass , stress induced and deflection of crane hook. Key words : Creo-parametric, ANSYS, Microsoft Excel, FEM.
