Abstracts: In metal cutting applications, knowledge of cutting forces is very important as it effects on designing of machine tool, fixtures, method of operation etc. Generated forces results in generation of heat and thus tool wear, quality of machined surface and accuracy of work piece. Analytical calculation of cutting force may not give accurate results due to the complex tool geometry and cutting conditions and also because of some other factors like cutting fluid, cutting condition etc.So for this purpose experimental measurement of cutting forces is very important. Hence Lathe Tool Dynamometer is designed, developed and tested to measure tangential and feed force. In our project, we make the simple mechanism to measure the forces. In market different instrument available but they have high cost and also require electrical supply or they are active instruments. We have make the analog type dynamometer so that cost can be reduced and measurement can be precise. We have make literature survey and discussion with our guide to improve the project. We have also prepare a 3D model in pro-e software.
