Real –Time DC Servo Motor Position Control by PID Controllers Using Labview
Abstract
This paper presents the position control of a DC servo motor using PID Control algorithms. PID controllers are designed based on labview program, and the real – time position control of the DC servo motor was realized by using DAQ device. All codes are developed on The LabVIEW Real- Time Development System and then download applications to run on PXI-8196 real-time controller of National Instruments.DC servo motor will rotate according to demand, by using National Instrument’s (NI) Data Acquisition (DAQ) Board, LabVIEW Real -Time application software, and The PCI extensions for Instrumentation (PXI) platform for LabVIEW Real-Time. We develop all codes in the LabVIEW Real-Time Development System and down load real-time code to run embedded applications on a PXI. Servo systems are generally controlled by conventional Proportional Integral – Derivative (PID) controllers . PID controller is a feed-back loop unit in the industries control. The controller receives the command, subtracts it with the actual value to create a “difference”. This difference is then used to calculate a new input value which allows the data of system to achieve or maintain at the reference value. PID controllers which are different from other simple control algorithms can adjust the input values based on historical data and the emergence rate of differences, in order to make the system more accurate and stable. A PID feedback loop can maintain the system stability, but other control methods may lead to system that have stability errors or repeated process, which can be proved by Math methods
