Abstract:
In automotive applications, vehicle immobilization is one of the important aspects in the area of security system. A variety of prior art anti-theft devices such as, steering wheel locks, steering column locks, burglar alarms, automotive hood locks, ignition locks, truck guards, park interface locks, and computer coded keys, particularly with rolling code keys, have reduced vehicle theft . There is a need for an integrated control system that monitors vehicle status conditions and the right authentication.
Working Principle:
The transponder is a special transceiver in the key which can communicate with the control unit via the transceiver electronics. The LF coil which is kept around the ignition lock is powered through a 125KHZ signal and transponder is also powered through the electric field creatred by the LF coil. Microcontroller reads the code present in the transponder and try to match the code with the one stored in its memory. If the code stored in the memory and the one read from the transponder does not match, it will turn on an audible alarm and at the same time it will send an SMS to a known mobile number which is configurable. Inclination sensor processing makes the controller to check is someone is stealing the vehicle by towing away without the right ignition key.
Also one more provision is given to the user in terms of another level of authentication through a key pad which will restrict the unauthorized use of Ignition key without knowing the pass code. A panel containing the keypad and an LCD display is fixed on the dashboard unit of the car. When the user keys in the vehicle and turns it, then the display on the screen will prompt the user to enter the password “ENTER PASSWORD” (constituting of digits and of 4 character length). If the owner enters correct password through the keypad, then the system accepts him and greets him with a message display “WELCOME Mr. ……” and then will give the power to the instrument panel of the car, in turn giving the power to the ignition. Then by rotating the key he can start the engine of the car. Otherwise with three wrong entries a message “UNKNOWN USER” will be prompted on the screen. At the same time microcontroller sends an SMs to the known number for the unauthorized usage along with turning on the buzzer.
Applications:
The system provides a complete security for the vehicle along with the accessories for the complete system. The main application area is for the passenger cars, buses, trucks and lawn movers. The same system can be adopted for toy cars and other consumer electronics goods..
