Introduction
We all know that nanotechnology has wide range of medical applications. One of them is for the treatment of tuberculosis
Nanoparticle based drug delivery system have considerable potential for treatment of TB
Nanotechnology has provided a huge improvement to pharmacology through the designing of drug delivery system
Limitations of Conventional Methods
Time consuming
Extremely difficult to complete in highest burdened areas
Drug related side effects and toxicities
Frequent and many doses
Pain
Low stability of the drugs
Drug Delivery Carriers
Nanosphere: Cargo is dissolved, absorbed throughout the matrix attached to the surface or polymer matrix
Nanocapsule: Here the cargo is in solution and surrounded by a shell like wall
Nanomicelles: amphibilic co-polymers with hydrophobic and hydrophilic blocks self assemble to entrap the cargo[2]
Future
Currently, the trials have been made on rats, rodents, pigs which has shown no toxicity for 40 times the therapeutic dosage
Trials have to be conducted on species which mimics most of the human characteristics like monkey before proceeding for human trial [3]
