WHAT IS EARTHQUAKE ?
An earthquake is a sudden release of energy accumulated in deformed rocks causing the earth crust or ground to tremble and creates seismic waves.
EARTHQUAKE AND VOLCANIC ACTIVITY
Earthquakes often occur in volcanic regions and are caused there, both by tectonic faults and the movement of magma in volcanoes.
Such earthquakes can serve as an early warning of volcanic eruptions
EARTHQUAKE STORMS
Sometimes a series of earthquakes occur in a sort of earthquake storm, where the earthquakes strike a fault in clusters, each triggered by the shaking or stress redistribution of the previous earthquakes.
EFFECTS OF EARTHQUAKE
The effects of the rumbling produced by earthquakes usually leads to the destruction of structures such as buildings, bridges, and dams. They can also trigger landslides.
This includes damage to buildings and in worst cases the loss of human life.
