EEG recording while driving
Abstract
A hardware and software design and
development is described for a two-channel
portable recording device specifically to collect
the electroencephalogram (EEG). The
application intended for this device was
collection of EEG data from drivers, while
driving under controlled conditions on closed
roads or circuits. The monitoring of driver
reactions may lead to a better understanding of
driving abilities and improve road safety. To
this end, the design criteria of the portable
device included size, weight, power
consumption, operating ease, noise immunity,
and reliability under extreme conditions. The
construction and initial testing has been
completed, and the device is now ready for fullscale
field experiments.
