ELECTROHYDRAULIC FORMING
Metal_forming_seminar.pptx (Size: 91.04 KB / Downloads: 39)
PRINCIPLE:
TYPES:
Electrohydraulic forming with discharge through a gap(10,000 to 30,000 Volts ).
Electrohydraulic forming with discharge through a wire(even at lower voltages ).
MATERIALS FORMED:
Ductile materials having critical impact velocity >30 m/s .
Aluminum alloys, Nickel alloys, Stainless steels, Titanium, and Inconel 718.
ADVANTAGES:
Only one die needed.
Forming of both disc and tube shaped components is possible.
Closer thickness tolerances can be achieved.
Much higher production rates than explosives.
More adaptable to automatic production compared to other high energy rate forming techniques.
DISADVANTAGES:
It is suitable for mass production of small castings only.
If the impact velocity of metals is less than 30 meter per second, the metal cannot be used for the process.
