For this study various public sector companies located in different areas of Mumbai have been selected. Based on the model used to study ERP impact. The results of the techniques are useful for determining the best area for IQ improvement activities.
KEYWORDS : Information Quality, Information Quality Analysis, ERP, ERP impact.
INTRODUCTION
Enterprise Resource Planning Software System encompass a wide range of software products supporting day-to-day business operations and decision making. ERP serves many industries and numerous fuctional areas in an integrated fashion, attempting to automate operations from suppiy chain management, inventory control, manufacturing scheduling and production, sales supports etc and almost any other data oriented management process.
Information Quality (IQ) has become a critical concern of organizations and an active area of management information system (MIS) research. The growth of the organizations of information from various sources by managers and information users have increased the need for and awareness of high qualityinformation in organizations. MIS researchers have always considered the quality of informationto be important.
Despite a decade of research and practise, only piece-meal, ad hoc techniques are available for measuring, analyzing and improuing IQ in organizations. As a result, organizations are unable to develop comprehensive measures of the quality of their information and to bench-mark their efforts against that of other organizations.
Without the ability to assess the quality of their information, organizations cannot assass the status of their organizational IQ and monitor its improvement.
It has been found that, unique risks in ERP implementation arises due to tightly linked interdependencies of business processes, relational databases, and process reengineering. It is quite common for ERP project to finish late, cost more than predicted, unreliable and difficult to maintain.the contribution made by many other authors have been listed in the table1 as given below.
Dimentions of IQ:
The IQ dimentions into four IQ categaories, intrinsic IQ, contextual IQ, Representational IQ, & accebility IQ. Intrensic IQ implise that information has quality in its own reight. Contextual IQ highlights the requirment that IQ must be consider within the contex of the task at hand;it must be relevant, timely, complete and appropriate in terms of amount, so as to add value. Representational and accessibility IQ emphasize the importance of computer systems that store and provide access to information; that is the system must present information in such a way that it is interpretable, easy to understand, easy to manipulate, and is represented concisely and consistently; also the systems must be accessible but secure.
