ETHERNET BASED SECURITY SYSTEM

Introduction
Motivation:
I was interested in be able to monitor my home in my absence. This is a big issue here since most unknown people come so my homes were unprotected. Therefore I first decided to build a compact design for security& I was interested to send commands from everywhere and from any computer through the net to keep monitoring of my home. So I am using Ethernet with the wiznet module.
Actually I first started my project using UDP packets, and all operations went smoothly. Then again , I noticed that I needed a more reliable method for the security system as UDP is very unreliable , for the data loss is always possible , and you can’t really figure out if you are really connected to the server or not . So TCP was undoubtedly a more secure solution for the system to work reliably as it requires. These all give me motivation to use Ethernet based security system for my home, after that I am applying it to high risk area like bank, business.
Design System:
The system should be installed near an internet source and a cable (crossover or straight-through as it depends) should be plugged in to the module’s Rj-45 jack. This is constructed a TCP based security system using the Ethernet module offered within the contest , an ATmega16L microcontroller , a PIR as a sensor and few other peripheral devices.
Background and evolution of Topic:
• In earlier security was based on sms notification, where sms reach to offices are depend on coverage of area, place, and weather. Many times officer gets sms notification in delay of time, it is not reliable.
• To overcome defect of sms notification, using Ethernet wiznet based security system was derived, offering of the W5100 Hardwired TCP/IP Ethernet chip. It was so amazed that it’s have various features especially the support for TCP and UDP protocols essential for an Ethernet based security system but earlier mostly it was used on UDP.
IDP & ITS SOLUTION
• Many times PIR sensor give False Alarms and it can’t work properly in outdoor.
• The PID (Passive Infrared Detector) or PIR sensor has typically some limited sensing area which is not reliable.
• There are no facilities available in this to capture the images, to make continuous observation, recording of the secure area. Older surveillance cameras also could only be viewed from one central location, which means that thefts could occur when security personnel step away momentarily.
