Abstracts: In under development countries, people require refrigeration for a variety of socially relevant purposes such as cold storage or storing medical supplies. This project has a novelty having LPG as a refrigerant and working without electricity for refrigeration. This solution is convenient for refrigeration in regions without proper electricity. It works on the principle that during the conversion of LPG into the gaseous form, expansion of LPG takes place. Due to this expansion there is pressure drop and increase in volume of LPG that results in drop of temperature and cooling effect occurs in small volume. This cooling effect can be used for refrigeration purpose. Liquefied Petroleum gas (LPG) is locally available and comprises 24.4% propane,56.4% butane and 17.2% isobutene which varies from company to company. Also LPG is available as a side product in local refineries and chemical industries. The LPG is cheaper and possesses an environmental nature with no ozone depletion potential (ODP). This technology can provide refrigeration for socially relevant need in areas where continuous electricity supplied is absent. It can also replace currently using CFCs and HFCs which are causing global warming. These refrigerators can be used for the remote areas such as mines, research sites and deserts where still today electricity is not available.
